The release of the official Tesla video forensics tool is a boon for power users and data enthusiasts, but the average owner will find the updated in-car and in-app Dashcam Viewer more accessible.

The 2025 Holiday Update introduced a new telemetry module overlay in Dashcam videos, allowing users to toggle a data layer displaying critical real-time vehicle metrics. This feature is available on both HW3 and HW4, including Intel vehicles with the update. The overlay includes:

  • Autopilot/FSD State
  • Vehicle Speed
  • Gear Selection
  • Steering Wheel Angle
  • Accelerator and Brake Pressure
  • Turn Signal Usage

The Dashcam tool provides additional data, such as vehicle direction and latitude/longitude, but in raw format. Tesla has also improved filtering and organization, making it easier to find specific events. Storage management has been enhanced, allowing users to view dashcam storage status and usage.
