Dante Moore Responds to Troy Aikman's NIL Donation Controversy (2026)

Dante Moore Addresses Troy Aikman's NIL Donation Remarks

Dante Moore, a prominent figure in college football, has recently come forward to address the recent comments made by Troy Aikman regarding a NIL donation. Moore, who transferred from UCLA to Oregon after his freshman year, wanted to clarify the situation and express his gratitude.

During an interview on the Sports Media podcast with Richard Deitsch, Aikman revealed his dissatisfaction with the lack of gratitude he received for a substantial donation he made to UCLA for a player who later transferred. Aikman mentioned, "I gave money to a kid, I won’t mention who. I’ve done it one time at UCLA, never met the young man. He was there a year, he left after the year. I wrote a sizable check, and he went to another school. I didn’t even get so much as a thank you note. So, it’s one of those deals, to where I’m done with NIL. I want to see UCLA be successful, but I’m done with it."

While Aikman did not explicitly name Moore, it was widely assumed that the former five-star recruit was the player in question. The Los Angeles Times reported that UCLA’s Men of Westwood collective does not disclose donor information to players receiving NIL deals. However, Moore, who has never spoken to Aikman, expressed his gratitude to the former UCLA and Dallas Cowboys legend if he was indeed the donor in question.

Moore stated, "If he sent it to me, I didn’t know it was him. I didn’t see it. When it comes to people thinking it’s me, of course, everybody’s going to think it’s me. It’s quarterback-to-quarterback. I don’t want that false narrative being put out there that I didn’t say thank you. I didn’t hear nothing from him. I didn’t see nothing from him. So, if he sent it, thank you, but I don’t know what he’s talking about."

The situation highlights the complex relationship between athletes and donors in the world of NIL. While some athletes may feel entitled to gratitude, others may not have the opportunity to express their appreciation directly. The controversy surrounding Aikman's comments serves as a reminder of the importance of clear communication and transparency in these relationships.

As the NIL landscape continues to evolve, it is crucial for athletes and donors to maintain open lines of communication. This ensures that both parties are on the same page and that any misunderstandings are resolved promptly. The upcoming game between No. 4 Texas Tech and No. 5 Oregon, scheduled for January 1, will undoubtedly be a highly anticipated event, with the winner advancing to the College Football Playoff. The outcome of this game will have significant implications for the teams' rankings and playoff hopes, making it a must-watch for college football enthusiasts.
